12 baguette slices
Olive oil
125g soft blue cheese
4 tbsp Date and Almond Chutney
12 toasted walnuts, chopped
Honey
Salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crostini
Preheat your oven to 180c fan. Place baguette slices on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and season with a good grind of sea salt. Toast in the oven until they are golden and crispy. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.
2. Assemble the Crostini
Once the crostini slices are ready, let them cool slightly. Spread the blue cheese generously on each crostini.
3. Spoon a dollop of date chutney on top of the blue cheese layer. The sweet and tangy flavours of the chutney will complement the richness of the blue cheese.
4. Sprinkle toasted walnuts over the crostini. The nutty crunch adds extra texture to each bite.
5. Drizzle a bit of honey over the crostini to enhance the sweetness and tie all the flavours together.
6. Sprinkle a pinch of salt over the crostini. This will balance the sweetness of the chutney and honey with a touch of savoury flavour.
7. Arrange the blue cheese and date chutney crostini on a festive platter and serve them to your guests.
Hints & tips
Make gluten free - For a gluten-free version of these Blue Cheese and Date Chutney Crostini, opt our favourite gluten-free bread of your choice.
For another convenient gluten-free option, consider using gluten-free crackers instead of gluten free bread slices.
Cheese swaps - If you prefer a milder flavour, swap the blue cheese for goat's cheese. Its creamy texture and subtle tang will still pair wonderfully with the sweet date chutney.
Even cream cheese would suit this recipe if you don’t like either blue or goats cheese.
Fresh Herbs - Sprinkle finely chopped fresh herbs, such as thyme or rosemary, on top for a burst of savoury freshness. The herbs can complement the richness of the cheese and add a festive touch.
