Serves 4

Effort: Easy

Prep: 5mins

Cook: 30mins

Ingredients

  • 6-8 medium potatoes/ 12-14 small potatoes

  • 1Tsp Smoked Paprika

  • 1Tsp Garlic powder

  • Lang’s Smokey Steak Sauce

  • Olive Oil

  • Salt

  • Fresh parsley

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220c fan / 240c. Line a large baking tray with baking paper.

  2. If you are using larger potatoes cut in half or quarters depending on size. The reason this recipe is a quick cook is because the potato pieces are smaller ( around 2inch round) and the oven is a higher heat.

  3. Add the potatoes to a large stockpot and cover with water. Turn the heat on high. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium-high, and simmer/boil gently for 15 minutes, or until fork-tender (the boiling time will depend on the size of your potatoes). While the potatoes boil mix the smoked paprika, garlic powder & salt together and set aside.

  4. Drain the potatoes in a colander and let them dry for a few minutes.

  5. Transfer the potatoes to the prepared baking tray. Use the base of a large metal spoon or a sturdy flat bottom drinking glass to smash each potato by pressing down until nearly flattened. It's ok if the potatoes break apart a bit.

  6. Drizzle the potatoes with olive oil before sprinkling with the paprika/garlic/salt mixture. Then top with Lang’s smokey sauce before putting them in the oven.

  7. Roast the potatoes for 15 minutes, or until golden-brown and crispy on top.

Serve the potatoes with chopped parsley and a extra drizzle of smokey sauce.

Hints and Tips

The potatoes need to be similar in size to ensure even boiling and roasting.

For extra crunch, once smashed, separate your potatoes on the tray so they aren’t touching to give more surface area for crisping up.

If you are super busy you can skip the boiling part and pop the potatoes in the microwave. Give them a prick beforehand and microwave until soft then follow the method as above.
